Saving it as read only?
Now I am noticing that when I create a new file (say, in Word) and save it, next time I boot up, access that new file and try to save a change, I find that it is saved as "READ ONLY." I'm guessing that there is a default switch somewhere that I need to un-check to stop saving as read-only?

However, when I create new folders, the "read only" flag is enabled. I can clear the flag and apply the change but if I go to recheck the read only flag is back?!?? Even so, if you copy from the CD to your hard drive you will still have the read-only bit set on, and you will have to turn it off on your hard drive. You can use the DOS utility XCOPY or some other programs like XXCOPY to copy to your CD for backup that do not turn on the read only bit.

TBK saved as .exe can't be read only?
I changed back to the standard desktop to see what the prop sheet looked like there, and it shows the read-only check in "state 2", which means some folders are hidden, and some are not. To be more specific -- A CD is read only but the Read-only attribute may or may not be set -- it depends on the program. The XCOPY command will not set the read only attribute unless you ask it to. Dragging files or using file manager will cause the read-only attribute to be set on the CD.
